We define "caregivers" as those individuals who help patients manage their lives - especially their health. They can be family, friends, sometimes even co-workers or neighbours. We believe that caregivers are critical to a patient's healing and overall state of health.
If you are a caregiver (or a patient who wants to appreciate what it is like to be a caregiver), I am sure you will find this section helpful. These stories have been submitted to us from families and friends of patients. They provide an inside look at the challenges of supporting patients and, in many cases, impart important lessons learned.
If you are a caregiver, we encourage you to tell your story. It will make a difference!
In the coming months, we will be adding links to useful online resources and with a little help from our Medical Advisory Council developing our own targeted support materials. For now, we encourage you to particpate in the following forum or attend one of our local support groups.
If you have suggestions what else we can be doing for families and friends of patients, please feel free to contact us at support@pemphigus.ca.
